Africa - Harungana

A tree with powerful regenerating benefits, harungana encourages reforestation by colonising barren soils in Madagascar and Africa. Since time immemorial, it has been used by local communities for its many therapeutic benefits. Its leaves improve liver function and also have antiseptic and healing benefits, while the orangey-red sap of the plant is used to soothe skin conditions.

In cosmetics, harungana extract helps promote collagen synthesis for firmer skin. The extract used by Clarins Laboratories is obtained through organic farming.

This partnership has allowed for the harungana harvested for Clarins to obtain a fair trade and organic certification and respects both people and working conditions. Harungana leaves are picked and dried by the inhabitants of Joffreville, a village located in northern Madagascar, with the support and supervision of the local Jardins du Monde team.
